Short story for this morning. I was passing through this intersection in the left lane when the guy in the middle lane decided to turn left.

Kinja'd!!!

Parking isn’t allowed in the left lane during rush hour, so unlike in the google street view, the lane was clear ahead. I am thankful that I was able to lay on the horn, hang a hard left, and somehow not get hit. I’m even more thankful that nobody was walking through the crosswalk. The guy in the other truck finished his turn (!) and then followed me around the block, turning left again once we came back around to this intersection. I can only assume he had no idea where he was going.

I guess I needed a little reminder that driving can be dangerous and I shouldn’t get complacent.

Ah that happens all the time outside my university. I blame it on bad intersections and abusive drivers.

I hate variable lane rules like this that require you to watch the clock... almost as much as I hate it when people don’t pay attention to them.

I almost had something similar at this intersection.  Center and left  lanes turn left; right lane turns right. I’m in the center lane; fortunately I didn’t nail it when the light turned green because the buy in the left lane went STRAIGHT.  Guy in the Disco behind him and I exchanged glances.

I come across this scenario occasionally, but it’s more common for the guy in the outside turn lane to cut in or the inside guy to run wide.

Right. I always worry about that too. In fact that also happened to me somewhat recently. Had to stomp on the brake.
